When we contacted Nicole to tell her of the exciting news, she told us that she created her design with the intent for it to feel joyous, bright and mood boosting. She also wanted her design to acknowledge that breast cancer is indiscriminate to ethnicity or environment by using a considered colour palette to depict all skin tones and all terrain.
The Melbourne-based multi-disciplinary illustrator, artist and designer - whose work has appeared in local and international fashion magazines as well as on the covers of best-selling novels, including The Devil Wears Prada – shared that she had sadly lost her mother to breast cancer at the age of 24, and was diagnosed with breast cancer herself 10 years ago, so being a winner of this award is especially meaningful to her.
Nicole’s design will be printed on a Limited Edition Berlei ‘Lift and Shape’ bra that will be on sale this October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month as part of The Pink Bra Project. $10 from the purchase of this bra will be donated to Breast Cancer Network Australia to help support those affected by breast cancer.
Congratulations from all of us at Berlei and BCNA.
