Swift-water rescue

You may recognise this young lad from the local news...

This is Michael Hayes and we want to tell his story...

"I was driving through lower Fresh Water when I came across some swift water over the road. A guy in a Rav 4 had stopped in the middle and I parked behind him whilst deciding on what I should do next. A few minutes had past and the water soon turned into a flash flood with the water rising so fast it trapped me in my car. I couldn't open my door to get out!

I looked behind me to reverse out but another car had blocked me in. I turned back around and the Rav 4 had been swept away into the creek!

My car started moving sideways and it actually ended up rolling on top of the Rav! I thought my car crushed the guy in the Rav! As I climbed out, I noticed the guy in the Rav was still in his car and used a rock to smash the window. Thankfully we both made it back to safety.

Before I had a chance to catch my breath reporters fled to the scene. The funny thing is, there were a couple of blokes who had been searching for magic mushrooms that were being interviewed by reporters and and they spun a story, taking all the credit for saving our lives! What can I say, don't let the truth get in a way of a good story!"

We're just glad Michael made it out alive to tell the tale at the NQ Crash depot. We will keep you updated when we put the parts up for sale
