38 Thousand proud Australians are being ripped off by this fake ANZAC Page and fake Australian Army Web site.
Stephen Henderson RSL National Manager Special Projects said “The RSL, DVA and ADF have lodged complaints but as the site operates outside Australia’s jurisdiction we are unable to take any other action”
An American company called Sun Frog appear to be behind the scam, the page is set up to fool people into thinking that it is an official ANZAC page, they display an email connected to the RSL, share and re post Australian Army Facebook posts and even have a link to donate to ANZAC appeal.
The hyperlinks on the products take you to a landing page that is designed to make you think you are dealing with the Australian Army.
In the FAQs they try to imply that the goods come from Australia “Do you ship internationally? Yes! We want to make sure that everyone able to receive our products.
The web site states "Army Shop offers Australian Army personnel, as well as our families, friends and supporters, a range of gifts and promotional products.
You can select from a wide range of products branded with the Rising Sun badge, corps and unit emblems. Army Shop will ensure you have access to quality products and will also help Army to promote a consistent and professional image."
