'Mondays are universally acknowledged as the worst day of the week,' says study coordinator and Gold Booklover Page McReadsalot. 'But we've found that reading as little as half a chapter of an enjoyable book during your lunch break on a Monday has enormous benefits to mood, motivation, and concentration - you'll even get your sense of humour back a day early!'
According to Ms McReadsalot, it doesn't matter what kind of book you read.
'Our research clearly shows that readers got the most benefit from books which piqued their personal interest. There is no superior genre. The only review that matters is your own.'
Study participants also reported that the smell of a new books, the thrill of a plot twist, and the joy of earning rewards points all contributed to their recovery.
